fractals

i don't know a whole lot about fractals other than i dig 'em. a handful of studies have shown fractals to have a relaxing effect on stressed individuals. go ahead and download some fractal wallpaper for your desktop if your co-workers are driving you mad every ten minutes with lame *hilarious!* emails from their cousin's friend's uncle's college roomate.

living in oregon (or anywhere else i suppose) the winter brings me all the fractals i could ever want. empty trees are just as cool as the full ones as far as i'm concerned. i'm wondering, though, if the abundance of springtime deciduous love helps us through the blase days of december.

my totally untested theory is that while they dreary winter drags on, fractals found on the trunks of leafless trees hook us up with a little pick me up we couldn't get otherwise.

you say, "but seattle has the highest depression/suicide rate in the country." i say, seattle doesn't have as many trees as you might think, just like any major metropolis is missing its greenery.i also say "look again." "and again."

it's just a thought, anyway, just a thought.
